Science is a creative, fascinating and engaging subject which is a significant part of our curriculum. In this subject, we aim to inspire and generate children’s curiosity as well as improving their knowledge and understanding of science in the modern world and developing a range of cross-curricular skills. Through investigations, children are required to observe, predict, measure, classify, identify patterns and make explanations. Children are taught to handle tools and equipment safely, design and make things that work and use scientific concepts to solve practical problems.
At Carfield, we teach a broad range of science topics in line with the National Curriculum. The topics taught in each year group can be found in the year group matrices.
Every year, we hold a Science Week (usually in the Spring Term). This is a fantastic opportunity where we promote the subject across school through exciting experiments. Furthermore, children are required apply their English and mathematical skills through Science.
